Universities are in an amenities arms race. Our university is no exception. In fact, it may be one of the most effected. Read this brief article. There is no question that we are improving our national reputation regarding amenities. However, it is not clear that all will end well. Our numerous capital improvements are driving costs up at a time when students and families may be least able to absorb the increase.

Ukraine’s power outage was a cyber attack

I find this cyber attack the cut off power very troubling. Our rapid advance in technology many times seems to be creating less robust versions of the technology.

I’m not a luddite who wants to return to the old.
Sure my grandfather never suffered a “service interruption” at home. But it was because he did have any services.

However, most of us do not realize how fragile our infrastructure is. I hope we wake up to this before we suffer a serious outage.

The studs at WordFence present their analysis of data released by our government regarding the “Russian Election Hack.” (Un)surprisingly, the data does not support the conclusion being pushed. Just another reason why we should not trust those that desire to rule us.
